SAIL 2010 will take place on and around the IJ river in Amsterdam. The event is well within walking distance of Amsterdam Central Station. The best pedestrian route is to walk in a counter-clockwise direction from the Piet-Heinkade wharf to KNSM island, from there to Java island and Amsterdam Noord, and then back to Central Station.
The ships
The Tall Ships will be moored at the Piet-Heinkade wharfs, Java island and Amsterdam Noord. The smaller ships and the modern ships will be located around the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ concert hall and on the north side of the KNSM island. The sailing heritage fleet will be found at the Aquarena.
The activities:
The activities will be spread out across the festival grounds. Various cultural institutions which are located on the festival grounds will also be involved in the SAIL 2010 programme.
